What is the Popping Sound When You Get An Adjustment?

Some patients’ ask, “What is that popping sound when I get my adjustment?” In this video, it explains what exactly is going on when a joint is adjusted. It’s not your bones cracking, but simply, it’s gas that is being released from the joint. With the adhesions (the thing that’s aggravating the joint) within the joint being released and the increased range of motion, pain is reduced.

A simple illustration is for you to cup your hands and press them together. Keep the contact tight between your hands and then pull them apart. If you did it properly, you probably heard the popping sound. The pressure that’s being released, that is what’s going on in your joints during an adjustment.
